Roughnecks Re-Sign 2014 Nll All-Rookie Team Member Leung

Calgary inks ’13 2nd-rounder, sixth in rookie scoring, to one-year deal

The Calgary Roughnecks have announced that the team has re-signed second-year transition player Karsen Leung to a one-year contract, pending league approval.

Leung, named to the 2014 NLL All-Rookie team, recorded 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points (sixth among league rookies) while collecting 93 loose balls over 18 games in his NLL debut season. He suited up for all seven post-season games, including two 10-minute mini-games, during the Roughnecks’ bid for the 2014 Champion’s Cup, registering one goal and five assists over that span.

“Karsen is an athletic defender who brings speed and finish to the transition game,” said Roughnecks general manager Mike Board. “He had a good first year in the league and we are looking forward to him further developing his game this season.”

Calgary selected the 24-year-old, Victoria, British Columbia, product in the second round, 10th overall, in the 2013 NLL Draft.
