Nll Three Stars: Week 4

Headlined by tons of highlight-reel goals and intriguing storylines, the 2015 NLL regular season is in full swing after five games this past weekend. Which National Lacrosse League players made the biggest impact during the action-packed Week 4? Check out Stephen Stamp’s Three Stars of the Week on IL Indoor.

“National Lacrosse League teams scored 123 goals in Week 4,” Stamp writes. “Only the Rochester/Toronto defense-fest failed to produce at least 24 goals on a weekend that was thrilling for fans of scoring. Colorado hit 20 goals for the second time in three games and they’re getting production from all over; the Mammoth boast three of the four leading scorers among defenders according to the NLL stats page.”

Second Star
Adam Jones, Colorado Mammoth
4 goals, 6 assists
Jones is second in the league in goals and third in points, getting off to the same kind of torrid start he did last year. The big difference this season is that the Mammoth are off to a 3-0 start instead of the 1-2 at which they sat last year at this time. That has to make it that much more enjoyable for Jones.

Third Star
Shayne Jackson, Minnesota Swarm
4 goals, 3 assists
Jackson has taken on an on-floor leadership role for the Swarm with his consistently strong play, scoring 6 points per game with a combination of excellent hands and floor vision. He rounds out a 3 Stars group of all lefty forwards, giving the lefties a 7-5 edge in 3 Star honors this season.

Honorable Mention
Stephan Leblanc (Toronto): 3g, 8a. Great combo of power and touch on display at the Air Canada Centre Friday night by Leblanc…Mark Matthews (Edmonton): 3g, 5a. Matthews said before jthe game he’s been missing the net too much. He hit it on 9 of his 15 shots Saturday with 3 going in. More important was his role running the offense, though, as the Rush finally clicked for more than 10 goals…Ryan Benesch (Buffalo): 5g, 1a. A shooting star again Friday night, Benny leads the league with 14 goals…Miles Thompson (Minnesota) and Ben McIntosh (Edmonton): 2g, 5a each. The rookies are showing few signs…
